Sketches from the mind and some class demo notes.
This is a copy of structural demo that was done by the teacher during class, focusing on the construction of the features, and how they are supported by the arching and draping, weaving structure of the face. The body adheres to these same principals, naturally..
One thing we talked about was the unique "matrix"of form that each individual possesses.
Two particularly poignant notes:
With every line of the pencil, a tiny mass is unfolding.
Light becomes form.

Brooke day 3, and my last rounding study.
Good news everyone! I'll be extending my time studying in France.. so basically I will pressure-cook myself into a much more competent artist, with the help of some unbelievably skilled mentors.

Some drawings, an oil and a work in progress.
Caroline and Joshua.

An incomplete rounding study. The purpose of this exercise is to smooth down the features and smaller forms of the body, leaving only the underlying shapes.
This is Brooke. She's our amazingly capable, patient and graceful model. This picture was taken on day 1 of the 7 day pose, after 3 hours of work,
This was taken today, on day 2, after 3 more hours of work. For now i'm trying to keep the forms large and relatively simple, to establish the light effect before concentrating on smaller structures.
